Tarot Reveal with Kendra

Blessings and welcome to your weekly Witch With Me tarot reading! I hope it finds you well!

It is officially spooky season and to commemorate this grand occasion I decided to dust off The Literary Witches Oracle by Taisa Kitaiskaia and Illustrated by Katy Horan. There’s not much to hate about this deck for those who are both book nerds, feminists, and delight in an antique approach to divination systems.

For the last week of September, the WitchWithMe Challange focuses on stepping into your power as a witch, so that is precisely what I have asked the cards this week. How can you step into your power as a witch?

And without further ado…

Card Number One: Janet Frame

Janet was born in New Zealand to a poor family with countless misfortunes that include her brother suffering with epilepsy and her two sisters having drowned as teenagers. Janet was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia and spent most of her early adulthood in a psychiatric ward where she received upwards 200 electroshock treatments a day and barely escaped having a lobotomy. Finally released, Janet became a bit of a recluse and wrote autobiographical fiction about her experiences in a psychiatric ward and the effects it caused, most notably a displacement of self.

If you have chosen this card, then you are asked to get in touch with who you actually are. Not who society wants you to be. Not who your parents want you to be. Not who you think you need to be in order to be accepted or loved. But who you actually are. In order to step into your power as a witch, you must first claim that power and you cannot begin to do that until you choose to walk in your truth damn the consequences or judgements. If you are a closet witch, it’s time to come out and play!

Card Number Two: Eye

If you have chosen this card, it could be an indication that you may be a baby witch or perhaps you’ve been out of the spiritual world for a while because you’ve been busy with the stuff of mortals. In any case, now could be a great time to get back to studying your craft, seeking answers from other witches within the community, but also and maybe more importantly, use your third eye; the eye of intuition, to guide you on your spiritual path. This means a deep interconnectedness with both the universe and yourself.

Card Number Three: Noose

Stress not only effects our mental health but in turn effects our intuitive abilities and connection to the universe, our guides, our ancestors, and deities. This card speaks of relinquishing anxiety from your life but also speaks of self-sabotage. Is there something in your life that you continue to allow to suck you dry? You can only continue to be a victim to a point where you become a perpetrator to yourself due to inaction. Rise up little witch, it’s time to stand your ground, surrender to the flow of life, a breath deep the peace that you will find when you can live in the present moment, deeply connected with yourself and spirit.
